Prior to teaching, many people test the waters on retraining to teach by being a teaching assistant. Ark Teacher Training have launched a new programme for those with a degree to work in schools in London, Birmingham, Hastings and Portsmouth.

As a Teaching Assistant, you have the opportunity to serve as a role model for your students. By fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment, you can help the young people in your care make progress and reach their full potential. Your work can inspire your pupils and leave a lasting impact on their lives ahead of teacher training.
You must:
- Have the right to live and work in the UK
- Have a grade C/4 or above in Maths GCSE and English Language GCSE (or equivalent)
- Hold an undergraduate bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
- Not have already achieved Qualified Teacher Status
Knowledge & Skills:
- Evidence of a commitment to working positively with young people
- Experience of overcoming challenges successfully
- Ability to demonstrate consistently high standards of personal and professional conduct
- High levels of literacy and numeracy
- Ability to empathise and think strategically
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong planning and organisational skills
